Local Film and Representation with Film Victoria

This week on Out Takes we’re joinPrinted by Jenni Tosi, the CEO of Film Victoria, to look how Film Victoria helps local film-makers bring local films to local screens. Film Victoria is the State agency that provides leadership and assistance to the film, television and digital media industries in Victoria. It works in partnership with those industries to foster innovation, encourage audience engagement, and promote Victoria as unique filming destination.

We chat with Jenni about the importance of a strong and viable local film industry, and of attracting foreign productions to Victoria. We also chat with Jenni about the different development funds and incentives that Film Victoria provides to help emerging film makers bring their stories to the screen. Finally we look at the importance of representation, and the strategies that Film Victoria is pursuing to promote gender and sexual equality on our screens and behind our cameras.

Essential viewing: The Dressmaker (2015, Dir. Jocelyn Moorhouse)

Hungry for more: Downriver (2015, Dir.. Grant Scicluna)
