For this program, Out Takes look at the importance of Homegrown Screen Content.
We know that representation is important, but how important? ‘Screen Currency
‘ is the most significant report to look at the economic, social and cultural worth of Australia’s screen sector. We chat with Graeme Mason, CEO of Screen Australia, about the report and the value of on screen diversity.
We also speak with Boaz Stark, the writer, director and creator of The Horizon, the most viewed gay web series in the world. Now in its seventh season, the homegrown web series about Sydney’s gay scene is being re-invisaged as a short length feature by Stephan Elliott, the famed director of Priscilla, Queen of the Dessert.
Finally, we speak with Joy alumnus and emerging film maker Michael DiMarco about his debut feature film White December, which premiers here in Melbourne later this month.
