The Out Takes Guide to MQFF 2017

For this Out Takes special, we got in the festive spirit for the 2017 Melbourne Queer Film Festival (MQFF). Our guest was MQFF Festival Director Spiro Economopoulos who spoke about this year’s formidable line up: over 120 films: 47 features, 15 documentaries and 11 shorts packages.

We were also joined by Philipp Hochmair, the Viennese star of TOMCAT whose impressive resume boasts the first gay sex scene screened as part of an Austrian television series. TOMCAT is an Austrian drama about one couple’s fall from edenic bliss and will screen as part of this years MQFF. We talked with HOCHMAIR about some of the key themes in TOMCAT and the importance of queer representation more broadly.
