Drawing Strength from Queer Cinema to Get YES Ready

As the Government’s postal hate poll looms, the Out Takes team took time for this program to survey a breadth of films to ask how queer cinema can get us ‘yes’ ready.

As our society continues to debate our right to be equal before the law, we continue to draw strength, courage and inspiration from our canon of queer cinema, and the lessons that it teaches us. We pick five films – from Gus Van Sant’s MILK to Disney’s FROZEN – and ask what each can teach us to sustain us through the next month.

Essential Viewing: The Freedom to Marry (Dir. Eddie Rosenstein, 2016)

Hungry for More: Milk (Dir. Gus Van Sant, 2008)
