This week on Out Takes things were heating up, as we turned our attention to films that revel in the world of gay porn: think BOGGIE NIGHTS but gayer.
Our guests were Jamieson Pearce, the director of ADULT, which screened as part of the Greek Film Festival, and Justin Kelly, the director of KING COBRA, which screened at the Melbourne Queer Film Festival earlier this year, and stars James Franco and Garrett Clayton.
We also looked at some of queer cinema’s more notable dealings with the world of gay porn – like THE FLUFFER and GOING DOWN IN LA LA LAND – and asked what it is that makes the world of pornography so ripe for cinematic representation. Is gay porn used as a plot device to explore issues affecting the gay community and drive character development? Or is it just a way of putting bums on seats? Tune in to this gay porn extravaganza to find out what the Out Takes crew think!
Essential viewing: King Cobra (Dir. Justin Kelly, 2016)
Hungry for more: Adult (Dir Jamieson Pearce, 2017)
