Out Takes Extra: Rose Troche

Rose Troche is an American film and television director, television producer, and screenwriter. She began her professional filmmaking career in the 1990s with the lesbian classic ‘Go Fish’ and has continued working in film and television, including as a director on ‘Six Feet Under’ and ‘The L Word’.

Most recently, Troche has turned her passion for unsettling the status quo to the narrative story telling opportunities of Virtual Reality (VR). Her new pioneering VR works include Perspective Chapter 2: The Misdemeanor and If Not Love, which featured as part of the Sundance New Frontier program and exemplifies the new kind of storytelling that is only possible in VR.

Troche was in Melbourne in November for the 2017 Screen Forever Conference and Gina sat down with her for an in-depth interview with this iconic queer storyteller to discuss her career and her move in to the new world of VR filmmaking and beyond.
