LGBT Cinema for Children

‘Mrs McCutcheon’ is the timely new film from director John Sheedy. It chronicles the story of 10-year-old Tom, who having always felt wrong in his own body, prefers to be known as Mrs. McCutcheon.

To mark the screening of ‘Mrs McCutcheon’ at the Big Little Shots film festival at ACMI, we turned our attention to queer leaning children’s cinema.

Our guests were ‘Mrs McCutcheon’ director John Sheedy, and Big Little Shots festival director Ben Laden. We spoke with Sheedy and Laden about why now is the right time for Mrs McCutcheon to be screening in our cinemas, and what we can do to generate more queer friendly children’s content.
