Spotlight on Documentaries with special guest Jonas Poher Rasmussen, Director of ‘FLEE’

It’s no secret that we love a good documentary at Out Takes and for this program we took a look at one of the best to come our way in a long time. FLEE is the film everyone is talking about and is in cinemas nationally now. From festival favourite to making history as the first film to ever be Oscar nominated for Best Animated Feature, Best Documentary Feature and Best International Feature Film, it is a documentary that has captured the world’s imagination and won’t let go. We had a lot to say about this fantastic film and were delighted to pair that with our exclusive interview with FLEE director Jonas Poher Rasmussen.

We also had the pleasure of speaking with Lauren Valmadre, the Conference Programmer at the Australian International Documentary Conference, or AIDC for those in the know. We spoke about her extensive career and background in film, what you must not miss at this years AIDC and more.

We also heard from local filmmaker Suzi Taylor who over a decade ago brought us the SBS coming-of-age documentary film ‘Love in Full Colour’ which told the stories of 12 queer teenagers who moved audiences to laughter and to tears with their warmth, honesty, insightfulness and wit. In 2022 the filmmakers are reconnecting with those original participants to create a follow-up film: ’10 Years in Full Colour’. Find out more about the project and how to support it here  and to receive a free link to watch the first doco in the series, ‘Love in Full Colour’, sign up to the e-news here.

A special thanks to the teams at Madman Entertainment and Nixco for making the Flee interview a reality, we love your work and appreciate your support!
