Out Takes Guide to MQFF 2023

It’s one of our favourites that we cover each you so for this program we were excited to bring you all the latest news on our local LGBTIQA+ film festival and what they have in store for 2023. The 33rd annual Melbourne Queer Film Festival a.k.a MQFF is back from November 9 to 19 with the provocation ‘Rewind to Fast Forward’. The festival is looking to celebrate all queer histories, past, present and future, informing the now and shaping the future. Alongside a stream of historical titles throughout this year’s program, MQFF also presents a joyous and uplifting array of new films.

Our special guests were Cerise Howard, MQFF’s Program Director, who gave us the low down on what to check out at the festival and how it was all coming together, and our new international correspondent Dion Blackler (who’s podcast ‘In The Mood For Film’ is one to check out) with his recommendations from this year’s BFI London Film Festival and in this year’s MQFF program.  We also provide our first selection of reviews, recommendations and films that we can’t wait to see (top of the list: Andrew Haigh’s ‘All Of Us Strangers’ with Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal).
