JOY turns 30 and Out Takes celebrates 8 years on air!

As you all know, Out Takes is the home of queer cinema and television on JOY 94.9 and for this program we reflected on two milestones that are linked to the program, the station we broadcast on and Melbourne’s queer history.

JOY Media a.k.a JOY 94.9, is still Australia’s first only LGBTQIA+ community media organisation and over the coming twelve months, JOY is acknowledging it’s 30 year history with on-air commemorations, archival interviews, events and more to reflect on and celebrate JOY’s three decades on air and online. As the station that brought us together and provides the platform for our program to be heard in Australia and around the world, we took this opportunity to reflect on our individual ‘journeys with JOY’ and our own queer history as well.

Out Takes also celebrated 8 years on air this December so we also looked back at how the program has evolved, what we have learned along the way and how the show continues to showcase some of the best LGBTIQ film and television from Australia and around the world.
