The 2022 Out Takes Guide to Pride Month

While we down under traditionally celebrate our queer season in our summer, those in the northern hemisphere are currently in the midst of Pride Month 2022. This annual celebration is to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots, the ongoing efforts to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity plus acknowledge the impact that LGBTQ individuals have had on history.

Our friends at Cinema Nova celebrated Pride Month with a curated selection of premiere screenings, new releases and big-screen classics exploring stories from across the LGBTIQ+ experience so we took that as inspiration for this show to look at the fantastic new film ‘Fire Island’ and revisit a few Out Takes favourites. This included Head On, Call Me By Your Name and Monnlight plus clips from our interviews with Luca Guadagnino and Barry Jenkins. We also couldn’t let Judy Garland’s 100th birthday pass without looking at her legacy and ongoing impact on pop culture and the queer community.
