*Language warning* – this episode has a bit of colourful language in it from us and the TV show itself ๐
For this Out Takes, we turned our attention to ‘Deadloch’, a new Australian original series from the absurdly funny and clever minds of Kate McLennan and Kate McCartney on Amazon Prime Video that takes the crime genre, mixes in a huge dash of comedy and bad language, the beautiful Tasmanian landscape along with an incredibly diverse and talented cast and turns it into one of the most hilarious, entertaining and queerest local productions weโve seen in a very long time.
Set in the fictional Tasmanian town of Deadloch, the show begins when the community is left reeling after a local man turns up dead on the beach. Two female detectives are thrown together to solve the case along with their overeager junior constable Abby. As the town implodes from the realisation there is a serial killer in their midst, this trio have to put their differences aside and work together to solve this case.
We were joined for an exclusive interview with cast members Nina Oyama and Tom Ballard to find out how they got involved in this project, what it was like shooting for six months straight in Tasmania and how queer this show really is (spoiler, itโs very queer). The first three episodes of Deadloch premiered exclusively on Prime Video globally from June 2 with new episodes available each Friday, leading up to the season finale on Friday July 7.
