Lion: with Academy Award winner Emile Sherman and Saroo and Sue Brierley

Out Takes celebrated the theatrical release of LION, the new Australian film from director Garth Davies starring Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman, with a show full of incredible guests.

LION tells the moving true story of Saroo, a young Indian boy who gets lost on the streets of Calcutta and adopted by a Tasmanian couple. 25 years later, he sets out to find his lost family. It’s a powerful, heart felt film about the importance of family and home. Our guests were Saroo and Sue Brierley (pictured), the son and mother on whom LION is based. They shared their emotional story and chatted to us about what it is like to have their private lives exposed on the big screen.

We were also be joined by academy award winning LION co-producer Emile Sherman, who since founding See-Saw Productions in 2008 has produced a series of award winning films including SHAME, THE KING’S SPEECH, and MR HOLMES.

Note: for more with LION director Garth Davies check out ‘The Year Ahead in Film’ Out Takes podcast.
