Bears on the Screen with BearCity Writer and Director Douglas Langway

Variety called GOODBYE CHRISTOPHER ROBIN a honey-sweet glimpse into the inspirations behind, and fallout from, author A. A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh series. Empire gave it four stars. So as we celebrate the theatrical release of GOODBYE CHRISTOPHER ROBIN on Out Takes this week, we turn our attention to bears in queer cinema: from the Care Bears in their 1985 cinematic debut to Douglas Langway’s Bearcity films!

To help us explore this hairy terrain, we’re joined by Bearcity writer, director and creator Douglas Langway. The Bearcity films (there are three of them!) follow the mishaps and lusty encounters of a tight-knit pack of friends in New York city, who all have connections to the gay bear community. They serve as our entree into the world of a very different kind of bear on the big screen.
