Imagine coming home from work one day to find your dog or cat missing. Imagine never seeing your beloved pet ever again?

Each year, thousands of lost animals are brought to shelters across Australia without identification, or carrying identification with out-dated contact details, making it difficult and sometimes impossible for shelter staff to contact their owners and for owners to find their pets.

The Lost Dogs’ Home and National Pet Register are calling on pet owners to mark December as National Pet ID Month – an annual reminder to get on top of their pet’s identification.

Coming up on Pets-A-Loud:

  • We talk about how you can get on top of your pet’s identification this month
  • There is a misconception that microchips are navigation devices that help track pets, so we explore and bust these identification myths.
  • Do you know what to do if you’ve lost or found a pet? Listen up as we take you through some simple steps.
  • And finally on Dog Dates, we look at Chip Checker events at a dog park near you!
