World Stray Animals Day

Animals, Community, Pets, Society & Culture

As you begin to listen to our podcast, there are 500 million stray animals are living on the streets – that’s over 20 times the entire human population of Australia. An estimated 75% of the world’s dog population are strays, while, stray unwanted cats are also estimated to be in the hundreds of millions.

Friday April 4th marked World Stray Animals Day and on this week’s edition of Pets-A-Loud we grabbed our boarding passes and headed abroad to meet some incredible people making a difference to the lives of animals on the streets.

On this weeks podcast,

  • We head to Fiji and meet Casey Quimby, the co-founder of Animals Fiji.
  • We speak with Melbourne veterinarian Claire Lowly who met her adopted pup, Red, while volunteering in Fiji.
  • We cross over to Nepal and get an update from the Nicole Beasley about the Street Dog Program.
  • And finally, we’ll check in with the Lost Dogs’ Home team at Flagstaff Gardens today for the Human Walking Program.
