Assistance dogs open the door to independence for their owners, helping them with everyday tasks we take for granted, like retrieving dropped objects and pressing buttons. Their wagging tails and unconditional love also help relieve social isolation for people in need, providing physical and emotional support for their team mate over their working life.
October is Dogtober, an awareness month for Assistance Dogs Australia and on this edition of Pets-A-Loud we are celebrating the work of assistance dogs and the joy they bring to their team mate’s life.
Also on this episode of Pets-A-Loud:
- Jacquie, owner of assistance dog Archie and assistance dog in training – and former Lost Dogs’ Home adoption dog – Ruby talks to us about how assistance dogs help her in the workplace.
- Assistance Dogs Australia CEO Richard Lord talks to us about the work of assistance dogs and what is happening during Dogtober.
- And, we give you the lowdown on the events happening around Melbourne this weekend!
