Queer Eye For The Night Sky

News & Politics, Podcast

Journalist and broadcaster Cathy Anderson joined Pete Dillon for some stargazing today.

In news, we first visited the Charlie Hebdo massacre in France with heavy hearts, before examining the credentials of newly elected opposition leader in NSW, Luke Foley with Independent MP for Sydney, Alex Greenwich. Academic and Queensland Pride President Peter Black opined on the snap election called in that state and what it means for our community, while ABC journalist and former South East Asia correspondent Zoe Daniel looked at the impeachment proceedings against former Thai Prime Minister, Yingluck Shinawatra.

In the first of our one hour Summer Specials, it was all Queer Eye for the Night Sky as we spent an hour of celestial bliss, looking at Space – the final frontier. Astrophysicists Toby Brown and Rebecca Allen tried to make us understand what a light year is, if there is life out there and what’s going down on Pluto. Reaching Mars, Earth in the Goldilocks Zone, Keplar’s Law of orbit and a leap second made it all our own Big Bang show as we covered cosmology for dummies.

We were all smarter for the experience.
