Sarah Jane Witty is an Australian politician who was elected to the Australian House of Representatives for the at the 2025 Australian federal election, for the Division of Melbourne. In the election, Witty defeated Adam Bandt, the leader of the Australian Greens, who had held the seat of Melbourne since 2010.
Sarah Witty is a foster parent of ten years, a Richmond local of over twenty years, and an experienced leader of for-purpose organisations.
Sarah is dedicated to making real change on the issues that matter. As CEO of The Nappy Collective, she has provided free nappies to families in crisis. At Homes for Homes, she raised a pipeline of over $110 million for social and affordable housing, which helped put a roof over the heads of those who needed it most urgently.
In her personal and professional lives, she’s seen how systems can fail those in our community who need them most – but she also knows that we can make things better.
Sarah Witty and Labor are committed to:
· Building 1.2 million homes to make housing more affordable;
· Wiping 20% off your HECS debt; and
· Opening more Medicare Urgent Care Clinics and increasing bulk billing to strengthen Medicare.
