Nevena and Kenny’s first guest this week is Senator Josh Dolega is a is a proud representative of Lutruwita/Tasmania in the Australian Senate, nominated by the Australian Labor Party. Born in Devonport and raised in Spreyton, Senator Dolega’s upbringing was shaped by the resilience and dedication of his parents, Lynne and Mark. His early experiences instilled in him a deep appreciation for farness and inclusion.
Before entering politics, Senator Dolega worked as a group fitess instructor and spent 15 years at the ATO helping small businesses, and later found his calling in the union movement. As a Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) organiser, he stood up for workers’ rights, safety, and dignity – earning recognition as Unions Tasmania’s Delegate of the Year in 2017. He’s especially proud of helping public servants fight for better conditions and safer workplaces.
Josh is also Tasmania’s first openly gay Labor senator. His journey is a powerful reminder that representation matters and he looks forward to using his role In the Senate to show young queer Australians that they’re seen, valued, and have a place in politics.
Senator Dolega is passionate about strengthening public services, supporting secure jobs, and advancing progressive reforms.
His door is open, and he’s ready to listen, serve, and fight for the people of Tasmania.
