Kenny and Macca talk to Katrina Sedgwick, CEO Melbourne Arts Precinct; Seagull Patrol!
Katrina Sedgwick OAM is the inaugural Director & CEO of Melbourne Arts Precinct Corporation (MAP Co). Spearheading the $1.7 billion transformation of the Melbourne Arts Precinct. Prior to MAP Co, Katrina was Director & CEO of ACMI, a role she held from 2015 to April 2022, Head of Arts for ABC TV, founding Director/CEO of the biennial Adelaide Film Festival, producer for the Adelaide Festival of Arts (1996, 1998 and 2000) and the artistic director of Come Out ‘99 and Adelaide Fringe 2002.
The Seagull Patrol program:
Fed Square is introducing a new kind of workforce: the Seagull Patrol. Seven trained border collies and kelpies (and their proud local owners) will soon begin daily patrols to keep pesky gulls at bay, humanely, of course, as part of a six-month program starting 17 November. The dogs will be patrolling Fed Square each day between 11am – 3pm.
The program is run by James Webb of Mad Dogs & Englishman, who’s been running the popular (and very effective) Seagull Patrol at the Sydney Opera House for several years. He’s in Melbourne this week to begin training his new recruits, with training running until the 11th.
This is the first time the program has been run in Melbourne. Mad Dogs & Englishmen has run a successful Seagull Patrol at the Sydney Opera House for a number of years.
The Great Melbourne Bagpipe Bash happening at Fed Square next Wed 12 Nov. In celebration of AC/DC’s tour, we’re calling all pipers across Melbourne to come together and smash the world record for the largest bagpipe ensemble! Open to any piper eager to come along and play AC/DC’s iconic “It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock n Roll”) . We’d love to give it a plug. There is more information on the event in the attached media release.
