Saturday Magazine National Suicide Week/National Suicide Day Mind Australia Aftercare LGBTIQ+ suicide prevention program

To launch National Suicide week/National Suicide day, Fiona and Paul are joined in the studio by Isabelle McGovern (she/they)Mind Australia’s Acting LGBTIQA+ Suicide Strategic Development Lead and Amy Corcoran (she/her), one of the Aftercare peer practitioners who use their own lived experience as an LGBTIQ+ person who has struggled with suicidality in their work supporting Aftercare clients

Isabelle talks to Fiona and Paul about how the service works, the need for it in the community and its recent refunding by the Victorian government.

Amy talks first-hand about her own struggles with suicidality as a young LGBTIQ+ person and how she now harnesses this experience in helping others.

Both provide listeners with some great insights into LGBTIIQ+ suicidality and what to do if you or someone close to you is experiencing suicidal thoughts.
