SASVic is the peak body for Victoria’s 18 sexual assault services which see nearly 20,000 victims of sexual assault each year. (This barely scratches the surface but we are not sufficiently funded to meet demand.)

The sector has witnessed the rise of sexual assault by younger perpetrators.

We’ve also seen the rapid increase in technologically-facilitated sexual violence.

We know how to improve the horrific trends we are seeing.

Kathleen Maltzahn talked about the importance of having properly funded specialist support services to tackle sexual violence.

One issue right now: how technology and porn are fuelling the rise in sexual violence. In fact we recently held a sold out symposium on the issue investigating how technology and porn is fuelling sexual assault, sextortion and impacting relationships.
