Emily Howie @EmilyHowie, a Legal Director at the Human Rights Law Centre @rightsagenda, said it’s not yet clear the nature of any charges that might be laid as a result of the investigations, but it appears that both news organisations and whistle-blowers could potentially be the targets. What’s next in this ongoing vital issue? Three things we need to do – properly protect press freedoms, ensure whistle blowers can safely reveal injustice and take a good look at the surveillance that we have in Australia, because we don’t have the same rights at the US or UK.
