The Subjects and the Anti-Superhero

Sonja speaks to Melbourne writer and director Robert Mond who has just released his debut feature film The Subjects, an anti-superhero thriller. The film screened in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane in September and now here in October its VOD global release is upon us!

The Subjects
The premise of the film follows eight strangers go into a locked room for clinical trials on a new drug that gives them super powers.

‘…there’s something quite different about Mond’s self-professed “anti-superhero” movie, The Subjects. This energetic, low-budget venture strips away the romantic idea that superpower-enhanced humans are blessed by fate and views them instead as lab rats embroiled in a cause out of their control.’   – The Guardian

The Subjects release online

It features an ensemble cast of Australian actors including: Pip Mushin (Strictly Ballroom), Spencer McLaren (The Secret Life of Us), Emily Wheaton, Charlotte Nicdao (The Slap, NBC’s Camp), Frank Magree, Paul O’Brien (Home and Away), Katherine Innes, Tosh Greenslade (Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell), and Paul Henri.
