Special guests today are:
Jeff Moorfoot – Creative Director for the Ballarat International Foto Biennale, which runs from 22 August until 20 September. Jeff learnt and taught photography at RMIT (pre-digital) and had a studio for 15 years concentrating on photos for ads. He moved to the country and pioneered a photography festival in Daylesford 2005-07 inspired by a French Festival. The Ballarat biennale is in its 4th incarnation and has a 2 tier program– 1) A curated corporate program with 21 shows in 7 beautiful venues in Ballarat and includes 50/50 Australian and International content. 2) Fringe program of 180 shows in a huge variety of venues (80ish). The aim is to show a diversity of photography both conventional and challenging.
Sarah Guppy from the Leaps and Bounds Live Music Festival, (3 to 19 July) and Harry from a band called Ministry Of Plenty. This music festival is run across many venues and spaces across the City of Yarra aiming to being together venues, musicians and audiences with 300 events and 80 acts over the 17 days. Sarah specifically booked for The Shadow Electric venue at the Abbotsford Convent and speaks about this amazing space, the Indie labels and the bands. Harry talks about how invaluable having a platform in this festival is for his band and how amazing the Melbourne live music scene is.
