A huge thank you to Daniel! Brendan is back from his 5 week Euro holiday and has been to London, Kontiki to Eastern Europe, Amsterdam, Prague, Berlin, Munich, Switzerland, 3 spots in Italy and then Paris. He talks art later. He saw a preview of Freeheld starring gay friendly Julianne Moore and recently come out Ellen Page about a lesbian couple’s fight to be treated as a straight couple regarding a pension. Brendan thought it was a wonderful film, beautifully shot and acted– 4 out of 5 stars. Brendan later talks about the Girls on Film Festival that was recently on in Melbourne and the 3 shows he saw at the West End in London
David talks about Adele whose new album –25-comes out in November. Her recently released video of a song called ‘Hello’ on You Tube went hugely viral within 24 hours.

11:39 to 37:00 mins– Georgia Perry is a Graphic Artist and illustrator & talks about colouring books for adults which has been a movement in the last 12-18mths. It started with New York Times bestselling colouring book called The Secret Garden from a UK illustrator. Georgia’s own book is called Full Colour and has only been out for a week. Her drawings were inspired by line drawings and slightly psychedelic 60s & 70s pieces and are not as detailed as some books. She wants people to access their own creativity, relax and express themselves. And be mindful. Georgia was brought up in Broken Hill–with its saturated colours and not much to do but art. Both parents are artists. Now in Melbourne, she does work for ads, the music industry, corporations and recently, more and more individual projects which she enjoys. Her own artwork such as pins/badges, emblems and stationery is funded by her commercial work. She has an agency and also uses Instagram (Instagram @gpez) to connect with buyers, fans and artists.

39:02 to 53.19 mins– Our own Brendan chats to David about the artwork he saw on his Euro trip including the Mona Lisa at the Louvre and Monets and Van Goghs at the more accessible Musée d’Orsay. He loved Sainte-Chapelle with the stunning stained glass. He loved Dresden and Prague and saw a few exhibitions, including one on Dali. Brendan wants to return and spend more time in the galleries as he’d only scratched the surface. He missed the statue of David in Florence as the queue was ‘insane’. He thought Gaudi’s immense unfinished Sagrada Familia was amazing but his favourite place overall was the Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona, a lesser known attraction with no tourist queues with the stunning gardens, breathtaking interiors, stained glass and mosaics.

53:57 to 1:05:45 mins– David Sefton is in his 4th stint as Artistic Director of the Adelaide Festival 26th February to 14th March 2016. The Adelaide Festival is Australia’s oldest arts festival. It started in 1960 and was modelled on the Edinburgh Festival. It is now a major international festival with the 2nd largest fringe festival worldwide. Adelaide is a smaller city and contained, like Edinburgh, which is why it works so well. It’s easy to get from venue to venue. David tells us why it’s so successful and also about his background in music, theatre and events in the UK and LA. He also talks about some events and highlights including Writers week, womAdelaide, the blockbuster opening to the festival at Adelaide Oval with 20,000 tickets already sold, and major music, dance, theatre and visual arts exclusive to the Adelaide Festival.
