Melbourne International Comedy Festival: The Show; Transistor Sister; and Is It Just Me?

We’re on the home strait of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Cabaret Room is bringing it home with artists from three shows currently on in Melbourne:

Anya Anastasia: The Show (interview starts at 9:45)

The Show is part-cabaret, part-riot centreing on the ‘show’ we put on in our day-to-day lives! Anastasia stars as herself in this hilarious off-off-Broadway comedy musical about her own life. Confessions, conspiracy theories and grandiose world-problem solutions from a human who can’t human if there’s a yellow car in sight (strange, but true). Every fearless social-warrior has her kryptonite.

Chloe Black: Transistor Sister (interview starts at 28:10)

Chloe Black has been doing stand up for 18 years but three years ago came out as transgender and has been performing as her true self ever since. Her insights into living as both genders have become an absolute hit with audiences. Her outlook on dating, coming out, living true to yourself and finding a comfortable pair of shoes have been making people laugh long and loud. Her comedy has been lauded by straight and queer audiences alike, striking a great balance between profound insight and unique hilarity.

Jie Cameron: Is it just me? (interview starts at 41:35)

Is It Just Me? Am I the only one who thinks this? Jai Cameron shares and questions his experiences about life as we know it in his new comedy show. Audiences will leave saying I thought it was just me… or will they?
