Friday 20th of January 2017 will go down in this history books as one of Melbourne’s darkest days.

Amid the lunchtime crowds, one man in a car, turned our bustling city into a landscape of fear and carnage.

Melbourne went into shock and the city into lock-down. And screams turned into tears.

And as darkness fell on our busiest street, all that remained was police, police tape, and shock.

It’s fair to say that for many, those tears have been replaced by anger.

Anger at the perpetrator. Anger at the police. Anger at government.

And anger at the senseless loss of life and the damage than simply cannot be undone.

Tonight on the informer we join a city in mourning.

Dean Beck and Shannon Power report from the memorial at Federation Square.

Featuring:

Lord Mayor Robert Doyle

Professor Christine Kilpatrick – CEO of Royal Childrens Hospital

Henry Dow – A student and eye-witness who helped those in need.

Rev. Joy Etwell – Victorian State Emergency Services
