Smoking Bans and Assault in Universities : 1st August 2017

Tonights Informer hosts are Lara Dickinson & Ian Muchamore and they look at two big issues hitting the news on the first of August.

The Human Rights Commission released their ‘Change the Course’ report on sexual harassment and assault in universities. Colin Tyrus speaks with NUS (National Union of Students) President Sophie Johnstone and Dean Arcuri and Lara spoke with the Vice Chancellor of Deakin University about the responses to the reports findings on a university level.

If you find any of the content distressing you can contact support services such as Beyond Blue on 1200 224 636 or for specific support around sexual assault call 1800RESPECT on 1800 697 877.

Today, new regulations have come into effect across Victoria to further smoking from all outdoor dining areas when food is available for consumption. Tonight Ian, Lara and Dean ask how the changes will impact LGBTI people and venues.

If you’re thinking of quitting smoking, check out these tips by ACON or give Quit Victoria a call on 137848.
