Bhenji Ra is based in Sydney and over the past few years has made a name for herself as one of Australia’s leading trans and voguing performers.

As The Sydney Mardi Gras turns 40 this year they’re doing something different. For the first time they’ll be holding a voguing ball, which Bhenji has coined The Sissy Ball presented by Red Bull Music, and they’ve given Bhenji the task of curating the whole event.

I spoke to Bhenji about the significance of this event, and what it means to her as a trans person and as a performer.
