JOY Presenter Philip takes you through the method of how to create Australia’s favourite classic, the meat pie.
As Philip holds your hand through this delicate process of meat pie construction, he makes a cultural reference along the way which you should really check out. It’s a nod to our Kiwi friends.
Below is the recipe from Taste.com.au. Get ready to dazzle your friends.

- 1 large brown onion, finely chopped
- 500g lean beef mince
- 1 tablespoon cornflour
- 3/4 cup beef stock
- 3/4 cup tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon barbecue sauce
- 1 teaspoon Vegemite
- 2 sheets frozen, ready-rolled shortcrust pastry, thawed
- 2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
