Episode 2 features songs from Nicki Minaj, Daft Punk, and Avicii.
“The Source” explores popular music with the aim to discover if it has been “borrowed” from other songs. The show will go back to the source of popular songs, and play the songs they have sampled from.
The final track on Episode 1 was “Switch Lanes” by Rittz feat. Mike Posner. If you listen carefully to the riff you can distinctly make out Joy Division’s “Love will tear us apart”.

Nicki Minaj / Sir Mix-A-Lot
Done with full permission from the original artist… Although having said that the Original Artist was inspired by a beer commercial.
DJ Khaled / Santana
Khaled song heavily samples from the 1999 hit single “Maria Maria” by American Latin rock band Santana for the song “Wild Thoughts”.
Several critics praised its composition and Rihanna for commanding the song, however others felt that song was too similar to the original. Commercially, “Wild Thoughts” reached number two in Australia
Santana and The Product G&B also reacted positively to the song stating the singers brought a “new dimension” to it.
Daft Punk / Eddie Johns
Daft Punk’s “One More time” was released back in the year 2000. The song features vocals by Romanthony which has been extensively auto tuned.
“One More Time” is believed to contain a sample of “More Spell on You” by Eddie Johns, but this is uncredited. Daft Punk reportedly denied using any samples for the song. A later report however indicated that sampling of the original had been officially approved.
