Evil Genius by Pat Benatar. From her 1981 album, Precious Time.

*Tucker’s Daughter by Ian Moss. Request.

Hide and Seek by Howard Jones. Request.

*Every woman in the world by Air Supply. Request.

Badlands by Bruce Springsteen. Request.

Don’t Want to Miss a Thing by Aerosmith. Request. Yes, I realised too late it is from 1996…sorry!!

Frequency 7 by Visage. Originally this track was a bonus track on a couple of re-releases of The Anvil, their second album, released in March 1982.

Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler. Request.

This is Hell by Elvis Costello. From his 1994 album, Brutal Youth, his third album to hit no. 2 on the UK album charts…he’s never hit 1 there.

Eternal Flame by The Bangles. Request.

Aussies – 1989

*Sweet Guy by Paul Kelly and the Messengers. In 1987-88, Paul Kelly & the Coloured Girls were known as PK&Messengers in N America and Europe…later on it would seem they were called that here, too. I think. This track is the first single from their 1989 studio album, So Much Water So Close to Home. The song was written by Kelly – his first from a woman’s point of view.

*Quasimodo’s Dream by Kate Ceberano. 1989 cover of a tune by The Reels. She had the best selling single in Oz in 1989 with Bedroom Eyes but since I’ve already played it I thought I’d try something else.

*Southern Sky by Paul Norton. Lead singer of Australian band Runners. After it disbanded he continued with a solo career. He is married to Wendy Stapleton. This is, of course, from 1989.

*Loss by No. From the 1989 EP Once we were Scum, Now we are God. They are alternately considered hard rock, punk and underground.

*Bed of Nails by Ross Wilson. Better known as the front man for Mondo Rock and Daddy Cool, Wilson also did some solo work. He first wife was Pat Wilson, of Bop Girl fame…which he wrote. This is from his 1989 solo album, Dark Side of the Man.

*Melt by Someloves. 1989 single from this Perth-based band. They only put out one studio album but did have a number of singles.

When I’m with You by Sheriff. Request.

A Love Bizarre by Sheila E. Request.

Everything’s coming up Roses by Black. From his 1987 debut solo album Wonderful Life. Black is really English musician Colin Vearncombe. He’s put out 14 albums, most on his own label, Nero Schwarz (black in Italian & German).

Overcome by Tricky. That is, Adrian Nicholas Matthews Thaws, English musician, rapper, and actor. He began with Massive Attack before embarking on a solo career in 1992. He collaborated with vocalist and musician Martina Topley-Bird, his then-girlfriend, on this debut album, Maxinquaye (1995), which was nominated for the Mercury Prize and voted Album of the Year by NME magazine.

You Hurt Me by Shark Vegas. Getting their debut on TripleX, they were a Berlin-based W German synth pop group from the 1980s. This is their 1984 debut single.
