Triple X Show 366 – 18/3/18 – Cher, Van Gogh’s Daughter/Beastie Boys/Sophie B Hawkins/ Aussie 6 pack and More

Show 366

Ambition by Subway Sect. Supposedly one of the UK’s first punk bands…but I can’t see how since they didn’t form till 1976. This was their second single release, in 1978.

Just Like Jesse James by Cher. Request.

+Through the eyes of Julie by Van Gogh’s Daughter.  San Francisco lesbian band Van Gogh’s Daughter with their left-of-the-dial hit Through the Eyes of Julie, from 1995.  From their debut and I think only album, Shove.

+Live and Let Love by Sophie B Hawkins. From her 1992 debut album, Tongues and Tails. I get to tick the LGBTIQ box for Sophie given her biggest hit, Damn, I wish I was your Lover, is about another woman. She defines herself as omnisexual.

+Transit Cop by Beastie Boys. Featuring lesbian drummer Kate Schellenbach, who was with them for their earliest years…but left before they hit it big in the mid-80s. This is from their 1982 EP Polly Wog Stew.

September Lady by Felt. From their 1986 album, Forever Breathes the Lonely Word. Their leader was Lawrence…no surname…just Lawrence. Like Cher or Madonna, but everybody’s heard of them…

Can’t Turn back the Years by Phil Collins. 1993, Both Sides, his 5th solo album after leaving Genesis.

Ball Of Confusion by Love & Rockets. Their 1985 debut single, also on Seventh Dream Of Teenage Heaven from the same year.

Funny Vibe by Living Colour. Request.

Wasted Years by Iron Maiden. 1986, Somewhere in Time.

Living on Video by Trans X. Their 1983 debut single…re-released in 1984. I’d forgotten these guys were Canadian.

I will be There by Glass Tiger. The last single released from The Thin Red Line. They, too, were Canadian.

Sixpack of Australian final singles…for no particular reason

*I’ll be There by Chantoozies.  1991 cover of the 1970 Jackson 5 hit, with a writing credit given to B West… that’s me!  Oh, no, it’s Bob West. And, of course, they did release another track in the past couple years…but this is the last from my era.

*Old Habits by Ted Mulry Gang. Their final single, 1990.

*Tonight will Last Forever by Sherbet.  1984 non-album single was their last one. It charted at 69 here in Oz but nowhere else.

*Happy Hippy Hut by Skyhooks.  1994 was their final single. It came from an EP they did with Daddy Cool, 2 songs each.

*This One by QED. Their final single, released in 1984.

*My Man by Cheetah. Their final single, released in 1982.

Race by Prince. Request.

One Hundred Years by The Cure. 1982, Pornography, their 4th studio album but the first with new producer, Phil Thornalley.

10-9-8 by Face to Face. 1988 non-album single. They were a Boston new wave band…not to be confused with the Californian punk band from the 90s and early 2000s with the same name.

That Time of Year by Vinnie Vincent Invasion. American glam metal band formed in 1984 by former Kiss guitarist Vinnie Vincent. From their 1988 album, All Systems Go.

The Different Story (World of Lust and Crime) by Peter Schilling. The 12” version from 1988.
