Triple X – Show 365 – 11/03/2018 – Year themed show with David Bowie/Tori Amos/Greenday/Prince/ABBA and more

Show 365 – ‘year’ show

Year of the Cat by Al Stewart. 1976 – bit of yacht rock to kick us off tonight on my 365th show…all about ‘year’. All songs!!

+Golden Years by David Bowie. 1976 single from Station to Station, his 10th studio album.

+A Hundred Years by Tracy Chapman. 1989, Crossroads, her second studio album.

+Poison Years by Bob Mould. 1989 solo debut after Husker Du broke up. It was called Workbook.

+All through the Years by Erasure. 1994, I Say, I Say, I Say – their 6th album and a bit after my era. I LOVED them early on but can’t find the love for their later stuff.

+2000 Light Years Away by Green Day. 1992, Kerplunk. Bisexual lead man…I know they got a play last week but finding ‘year’ songs limited my choices this week.

+Pretty Good Year by Tori Amos. Under the Pink, from 1994. Her second studio album.

Happy New Year by Abba. Request.

Jam of the Year by Prince. Request.

Orwell’s Year by Golden Earring. Founded in 1961 in The Hague as the Golden Earrings (the definite article was dropped in 1967, while the “s” was dropped in 1969). They achieved worldwide fame with their international hit songs “Radar Love” in 1973 and continue to tour and play today! This is from their 1984 album, N.E.W.S.

Aussies

*The Year She Spent in England by Weddings, Parties, Anything. From their 5th studio album, King Tide, released in 1993.

*A Year in the Shade by Beargarden. 1986 b-side to A Seaside Song. Also a track on their only album, from 1985, All that Fall.

*2000 Light Years from Home by The Celibate Rifles. From Yizgarnnoff, which was their 8th studio album. It came out in 1993. This was one prolific band! Putting out almost an album a year…2 in 1986!

*The Best Years of Our Lives by Richard Clapton. From his 1982 album, The Great Escape, his 7th.

*In a Million Years or So by Barry Crocker. The b-side to his 1981 single, No Regrets.

*1000 Years by Rick Springfield. One of his earlier tracks, but it went unnoticed then because there was a rumour that people were being paid to buy the album. So no radio station in Oz would play it. This is from a compilation album.

Ten Years Gone by Led Zeppelin. Recorded in 1974 but not released till 75, luckily! On Physical Graffitti.

Seven Year Ache by Roseanne Cash. 1981 album title track, her 3rd.

All those Years Ago by George Harrison. 1981, Somewhere in England. Tribute to John Lennon after he was killed by Mark David Chapman. He was most recently denied parole in 2016…for the 9th time.

Still Crazy After all these Years by Paul Simon. The third and final single from his fifth studio album of the same name (1975).

Living Years by Mike and the Mechanics. 1988 title track on their second album.

Big Fool of the Year by George Jones. It originally appeared as the B-side of Jones’ 1962 hit “A Girl I Used to Know,” but this one is from 1990 compilation.
