Mindfulness

While mindfulness has recently become a common practice in the modern western world, but it’s been around for ages. This week, Cal Hawk discusses mindfulness and its health benefits with Catherine Morey-Nase. Catherine is a clinical psychologist, qigong teacher, and one of the team over at Melbourne-based Smiling Mind – a mindfulness app and one of the world’s leaders in the pre-emptive mental health space.

Catherine explains the difference between mindfulness and meditation, offers some guidance on how to start a mindfulness practice, gives a run down on the Smiling Mind app and even leads a brief on-air mindfulness exercise. They also discuss the State of Mind – Smiling Mind’s annual survey that acts as a check-in on the mental health and wellbeing of Australian adults.
