The State seat of Prahran is one of Victoria’s most marginal and in 2010, the Liberal’s Clem Newton Brown won it from the Labor incumbent Tony Lupton.  It was Clem’s second attempt at running for parliament and his win ensured the Liberals would govern Victoria.

This November it starts all over again and the politicking has begun in earnest.  In a recent op ed, Clem Newton Brown highlighted Senator Penny Wong’s party struggles around marriage equality suggesting your elected representatives don’t have to be gay or lesbian to serve the community’s interests in parliament.

Clem Newton Brown was recently appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Education and host Dean Beck asks why it is that LGBTI students in the state run education system still have to struggle with bullying and discrimination on a daily basis.
