The partying after the success of the same-sex marriage referendum in Ireland must have been a bitter reminder of the lack of progress for the LGBTIQ community of Northern Ireland.

• In a land that bears the scars of years of open discrimination, sectarianism and violence, is the new younger generation more accepting?
• In the light of the recent Irish referendum, is the power of the Catholic Church diminishing in the north?
• Could the political wing of the IRA actually end up being the greatest advocates for LGBTIQ rights?

To understand the state-of-play in Northern Ireland, we spoke with Rosie Fagan – one of the first to get a civil partnership in Northern Ireland.
