There is arguably greater visibility now for Trans rights than ever before in our history. But does that make a difference if you are in a small town in mid-western USA?

• What is it like growing up feeling different in the American heartland where men are supposedly men?
• How difficult is it to make the decision to commence transitioning?
• And how do go about fending off discrimination and finding your own voice?

For a personal view on growing up ‘different’ in ‘middle America’, we were joined in the studio by Michelle, a trans woman from St Louis, Missouri in small town USA who is also a JOY presenter on Trans*positions.
