Singapore: Heroes in the High Court

Yangfa LeowIf you’ve been to Singapore before, you will know it as a clean, modern city state with great shopping! It even has a rainbow district with nightclubs and services for the LGBTI community and visitors. But many will be surprised that Singapore is still a country that criminalises male same-sex relations under the British colonial-era sodomy laws – Section 377A.

Singapore’s High Court has rejected the latest bid to rule this law unconstitutional and delivered a somewhat offensive ruling. To bring us up-to-date on how the court ruling has been received in Singapore’s LGBTI community, tonight we are joined by long-time friend of the show and proud JOY organisational member, Yangfa Leow from Oogachaga counselling service.
