USA: The Happenings Around LGBTQ Rights in the Courts and Parliaments

Professor Paula GerberThe election of Joe Biden over Donald Trump as US President was supposed to see a change in the way politics was done – towards a less divided United States. The LGBTIQ community especially was looking for change. So a little over a year since President Biden’s inauguration, where are we now? Already this year, more than 300 anti-LGBTQ Bills have been proposed across America – most targeting the Trans community.

Also lurking are rumours of a profound change of views of the powerful US Supreme Court – a change that could lead to the reversal of LGBTQ rights like marriage equality.

To understand what is happening in the courts and parliaments of America, we will shortly be joined in the studio by Professor Paula Gerber from the Law Faculty of Monash University and Kaleidoscope Australia Human Rights Foundation.
