Japan: If only we could just talk about it

The word ‘conservative’ is often used when speaking of Asian countries. Yet there seems to be an air of change sweeping across the region. Japan has the highest life expectancy in the world, so it’s worth fighting for change in LGBTIQ rights.

  • How do you start a public conversation about sexuality in a country that dare not speak about it?
  • With trans* people having a higher profile than gays or lesbians, is this a sign of acceptance… or just a type of comical fascination?
  • What effect has the US Supreme Court decision had in raising the public dialogue on same-sex marriage?
