  • World Trade Centre was completed
  • World’s first all-in-one computer was demonstrated (Commodore PET)
  • Jimmy Carter becomes USA’s 39th President
  • Led Zeppelin sets new attendance record for an inside venue (76,229) at Pontiac Silverdome in the USA.
  • Elvis Presley dies
  • A new political force in Australia (the Australian Democrats) is formed.
  • Release of movie ‘Star Wars’ in Australia which brought sci-fi to the masses.
