(The one and only Giorgio Moroder, master producer)

Welcome back to another two hours of A Touch Of Pink, your show for tracks with a pop trash / gay / remix flavour. This week I’ll be playing a few covers (Work from home, Never can say goodbye, Missing, My way, My heart belongs to Daddy, What is love), some diva vocals (Inaya Day, Lady Gaga, LeAnn Rimes, Crystal Waters) plus some great new tracks (Giorgio Moroder, Bob Sinclar, Sean Smith) and some just plain oddities (Sandi Thom, Kindred Surprize). I’m getting excited already.

My Song Of The Week is ‘Comme d’habitude” by M Pokora (see above). He is a slightly attractive singer from France, and his new album, My Way, is a collection of covers including the title track, sung in French. He’s gone a bit heavy of the tattoo’s, but he has a great voice and is not averse to some cheesey covers.

Here follows tonight’s playlist. Tune in this Saturday on JOY 94.9 from 5-7pm for two bakers dozens of fab-u-lous tracks. Your host is Dick.

What have we seen around town this week ?

Movie : Allied : Quite a good thriller, set in WW2 with Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard as allied spies who fall in love and get married and have a child after the spying finishes. But is she really on the allies side of was she a double (ie German) agent ? No spoilers here, and I’m not going to spoil it for, but it is well made, and I don’t know how they managed to shoot the lovemaking scene in the car with a cameraman circling them.

Movie : Moana : What a lovely film. Cutting edge animation and a strong female heroine searching for a way to save her tribe from extinction. Presumably based in Polynesian legends, it was gorgeous to look at, catchy tunes and an empowering plot. Okay, it’s a kids movie, but for those that like ‘em, it’s worth a look.

Movie : Rosalie Blum : Intriguing French comedy about a man who see an older woman in a shop but can’t place where he knows her from. So he follows her, however she is aware of this and hires her niece to follow him. It’s all very complicated, but it’s got a good message, a lot of heart, and all the mystery is cleverly revealed at the end.

Movie : La La Land : Seems this is going to be a lot of peoples favourite and I can see why. It’s a great new musical with catchy tunes, a bittersweet love story, and excellent performances from the lead actors, Ryan Gosling and Emily Stone. I loved it and can’t wait for the DVD to come out.

Movie : A United Kingdom : Another love affair, based on a true story from the 1950’s, about and English woman who meets the future King of Swaziland, they fall in love, get married and she agrees to go back to Swaziland with him. Then the problems begin. His family object to a white woman being their Queen, and the British people over there don’t like the idea of her marrying a black man. A good film nonetheless, well made and very evocative of the era.

Show : Circus 1903 : This took me back to my childhood, all those circus acts that you thought had disappeared, well, they’re still around … juggling, tightrope acts, acrobatics, a contortionist, plus a very funny Master of Ceremonies with a trip up sideshow alley featuring a bearded lady, a knife-thrower, a strongman and a 200 lb man eating chicken. Wonderful stuff, and very talented performers.
