Show 569 / 25 Feb 2017

Welcome to another hour of A Touch Of Pink, your show for tracks with a pop trash / gay / remix flavour. This week we have a lot of GLBTIQ content, including a couple of drag queens, more gays than you can poke a stick at, and few Aussies to round things out, not forgetting my favourite boy band ever. See below.

My Song Of The Week is “Giants’ by Take that. The boys are back, and I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for the new album, Wonderland due 23rd March. And yes, they are still relevant in a musical sense.

Note : I will be on sabbatical from next Saturday 4th March to Saturday 25th March inclusive. The 6-7pm slot will be looked after by John Von Ahlen to make a 2-hour Neon Nights extravaganza.

Here follows tonight’s playlist. Tune in this Saturday on JOY 94.9 from 6-7pm for a bakers dozens of fab-u-lous tracks. Your host is Dick.

What have we seen around town this week

FILM : Newsies the Musical : Filmed version of the Disney stage musical, that I somehow missed on Broadway. It’s concerns the strikes by American paper boys at the turn of last century, for more money and better conditions. It turned out to be a wonderful dancefest from some amazing young male dancers, plus a great story courtesy of Harvey Fierstein, and a sweet love story sub-plot.

FILM : Hidden Figures : Excellent crowd pleaser about three black women to went up against racist prejudice an NASA in the early 60’s to provide mathematical, computer and engineering support to the NASA scientists. Such a great story (based on true events) and some wonderfully moving and powerful acting. A must-see.

Dick’s Top 5 Videos For This Week (audio only)

Angie Fisher : Queen (such a great soulful track)

Nervo ft Timmy Trumpet : Anywhere you go

Paces ft. Nyne : Savage

Brian Justin Crum : Show me love

RuPaul : House of love (original version and video from 1995)

That’s your lot ….. now sashay away …
