A Touch of Pink

14 Apr 2017

572 Meet Eli, Matt and welcome back Beth (Ditto).

Uncategorized

Welcome to another hour of A Touch Of Pink, your show for tracks with a pop trash / remix and an emphasis on GLBTIQ artists.

My Song Of The Week is “Fire” by Beth Ditto (see above). The song is wonderful, the video mesmerising, and hopes are high for the forthcoming album FAKE SUGAR. Good to have the Gossip girl still around.

Here follows tonight’s playlist. Tune in this Saturday on JOY 94.9 from 6-7pm for a bakers dozens of fab-u-lous tracks. Your host is Dick.

What I’ve seen this week …

FILM : Frantz : The brilliant new movie from French gay film producer Francois Ozon. Mainly black and white, a story set just after WW!, when German and France were not getting on together. A young Frenchman visits the grave of a young German killed in the war and cries and lays flowers on it. The fiancé of the dead German sees this and wonders what’s going on. I won’t give anything else away, but it is a beautiful story, and I loved it. A perfect film and a satisfying ending.

BALLET : Lord Of The Flies : You can count on Matthew Bourne to come up with a new angle on an old story, and he delivered. Who would have thought to produce Lord Of The Flies as a ballet, but there it is, enthusiastically performed by a combined amateur/professional cast. Exciting if a little confusing in the plot department, but it’s ballet, so one just lets it wash over one.

Dick’s Top 5 Videos For This Week

Eli Lieb : Castles (wonderful gay boy from USA)

John Barrowman : What about us (such a gorgeous song)

Candy Apple Bue : Can’t stop thinking of you (electropop duo from USA)

Steve Redant and Peyton: Let It Shine (Sydney Mardi Gras Laneway event)

Matt Zarley and Billy Porter : You gotta be (yes, the Desree song)

That’s your lot ….. now sashay away …
