Happening this week are Mental Health Week, Seniors Festival, Lesbian Day on 08/10/2015 which was first celebrated in 1980 in NZ and on 10/10/2015 is the big Northside Bizarre at the Laird Hotel.

Possibly this week in the late 1700s a Mr Schweppe invented how to carbonate liquids artificially and keep the bubbles in. On 06/10/1862 Australia’s first zoo was opened in Melbourne with few animals but it grew and grew.

06/10/1854 a miner was murdered at a hotel which started a chain of events that led to the Eureka Stockade, a miner’s right and huge changes in Victoria.
