Sonja-The Squeamer-Hammer is chatting with Professor Will Brooker at the second day of the David Bowie Symposium Saturday the 18th of July at ACMI for the David Bowie Is exhibition talking and it’s 7th leg of the cultural phenomenon now on Aussie shores!

Will Brooker is a writer and academic, Professor of Film and Cultural Studies at Kingston University and an author of several books of cultural studies dealing with elements of modern pop culture and fandom, specifically Batman, Star Wars and Alice in Wonderland.

Brooker’s first major monograph, Batman Unmasked: Analyzing a Cultural Icon, was published in 2001

Professor Will Brooker Is : ‘Brooker was appointed at Kingston in 2005 as Field Leader in Film. He subsequently took the broader role of Field Leader (later Director of Studies) of Film and Television, and was promoted to PL. In 2009 he was promoted to Reader and became the Director of Research for Film and Television, also publishing a BFI Film Classics volume on Star Wars that year.

Brooker’s most recent monograph, Hunting the Dark Knight, was published in 2012. He was appointed as the first British editor of Cinema Journal in early 2013 and was promoted to Professor in May of that year.’
