+Hard Rain by Bronski Beat. For Tuesday in Melbourne, when we got nearly a month’s worth of rain in 1 day. From Hundred’s and Thousands in 1985, one of my favourite albums of that year. LGBTI, of course.

Aussies from 1986

*Georgy Girl by The Shower Scene From Psycho. From their 1986 debut album, Exploding Hits. They were from Melbourne and even though very few of us have heard of them, they were active all decade – till their final show in 1991. The concept was ‘bubblegum pop gone to seed’ and was the work of singer/keyboardist Simon Grounds, guitarist Jack Bloom and bassist/keyboardist Tim Costigan. They are new to me tonight.

*Snuff by The Bamboos. B-side to their 1986 single, Virginia. WA band comprised of Craig Hallsworth on vocals and guitar, Greg Hitchcock on guitar, Mark Gelmi on bass, and Shakir Pichler on drums. New to me tonight.

*Nites Like These by The Hollowmen. This song is from the mini album Blues Trains and Gravel Lanes, released in 1986. They were a Melbourne band active from the mid-80s till the mid-90s and made up of Billy Baxter, D.J.Butler, Mal Stanley, Jon Von Goes, and Paul Johnstone.

*Mean to Me by Crowded House. The first track on their 1986 self-titled debut.

*Two Hearts by Australian Crawl.  Their final single, 1986.

*Wait up by The Cockroaches. 7” single release from 1986, with Henry’s Lizard on the backside.

Japanese Boy by Aneka. Request.

Soldier Of This Fashion by This Fear. 1985, From Darkness Shapes Imagination. Their only release, Canadian.

Brighter Days by Face of Concern. Title track from their 1986 12” EP. American.

Dreaming Of You by Erth. From their 1986 vinyl mini-album, a self titled affair. American.

For Love by Jill Jones. Request.
